Integration of Technology in Education

                             “ Why Technology?”

21st century is the age of Information and Knowledge. Rapid flow of information is provided by internet. At the same time one has to be very keen in choosing right and appropriate information. Knowledge is the blessing for human being. One should be 'Life Long Learner' in order to acquire knowledge.

Technology has enhanced in such a way that it becomes the integral part of day-today life. One should not imagine himself without use of technology. Starting from mobile to laptop, car to airplane, medicine to operation. One can be outsider and aloof from present digital world if he lacks the digital and technological skills.

Use of technology in the classroom is worth implementation. Which supports the active learning. It facilitates the learning of students on their own. It sustains the attention of students and also makes them active, creative, curious and innovative. Teaching and learning is the soul activity of classroom. It can be made effective through technology. In traditional classroom teachers are at the center of any teaching process and students remain at the periphery. But in digital classroom students and learning are at the center. So it is a kind of decentring the center.

Students of traditional classroom are learning the syllabus which is out of date. Perhaps it will not create any innovation or production for society. Simple mobile phone also becomes out of date after three or four years and it will of no use. So how can he old syllabus, tricks and techniques will be useful for coming generation. Which is the generation of “ Digital Natives”. Students should be trained in such a way that they should be future ready. Therefore they should aware about the use of technology.

This is the time of multitasking. Monotaskers may not get better position in professional world. Those who are dealing with technology or digital platforms will certainly be multitaskers. They have habit of handling many things at the same time. Otherwise human can easily be replaced by the Robert. So one should think about the work which Robert cannot do, by using the brain. Therefore it is said that,

“computers can do the work of thousands of people but thousands of computer cannot replace one genius”

Students can do self-learning with the use of technology. There are several apps like Coursera, Byju’s which provides opportunity to the students for self-learning. Videos are uploaded in the apps. Students have to excess it, watch it, review it, revise it and learn it. It is completely based on visualization. It is proved  that visual things can have longer impact on student’s mind. Thus, technology can easily replace inappropriate and incapable teachers.

Technology plays a vital role in connecting the people. You can have company of people from all over the world. Who shares the similar interest. That is called ‘Finding Tribes”. Facebook is very effective stage which acts as “Bridge” among the strange people.

Traditional education system does not allow students to take admission in two colleges at the same time. But digital class provides that space to learn at various platforms. From any university of the world at the same time. But what requires is the readiness and curiosity of the students. Ultimately

“ Readiness is All”

Technology enhance the “Divergent thinking” every students can think in a different way. There is no any objective answers of questions. It leads towards the constructivism of knowledge. Students can construct their own knowledge in various forms such as Blog.  Computer is best respondent than teacher. It gives any feedback immediately with grading and points and it motivates the students to do better.

Many theorist contributed to the development of use of technology in the classroom, such as Marc Prencky, Sagata Mitra, Ken Robinson, Salman Khan, Byju Ravindran etc.

Thus, There should be transparency in education system. It cannot be possible without use of technology. If  we wish ‘Utopia’ in education system then it is impossible without implementation of technology.
