                                     " Harry Potter"

Glad to express my joy of watching harry Potter by J.K Rowling as part of my syllabus. ‘One would question that why are you watching children’s movie in your master’s Degree?’

Well, you are not right if you have that question in your mind. ‘Harry Potter’ is great classic in children’s literature. What matters is the perspective to look towards everything. View point of judging something is significant.
I am studying Harry Potter not only as children’s literature but also as Landmark in children’s literature which can be the best example of ‘Interdisciplinary Study”.

The very first reading is the “Feminist reading” in Harry Potter. Strong portrayal of Hermione Granger, manifestation of author, intellectual, capable of reflecting book knowledge into real world.  “Discourse of Purity of Blood” is another interesting reading of Novel, in which students of Hogwarts are divided into ‘Pure blood’, ‘Half Blood’ and ‘Mud Blood’. ‘Class Conflict’ is at the core of the novel.  ‘Theme of Choice and Chance’ is noteworthy element for children. Children are given opportunity, choice and through which they prove themselves.  ‘Theme of Love and Death’ is remarkable. Time and again Harry protected from Death, evil forces by the strength of the love of mother. ‘Moral and Philosophical message’ is the basic temperament of Children’s literature, which is very well reflected into Novel. At every stage children will have life lesson and intellectual growth. “Harry Potter as Speculative literature” which includes supernatural elements, horror and terror.

This should be the perspective to look towards “Classic children literature”.

By clicking on each topic you will have further information and examples of good Resources.
